Gazing at the Sky on a Sunday Afternoon

by Benjamin Alvarado

Gazing at the sky on a Sunday afternoon
Butterflies waltz to the melody of raindrops that
dribble from the leaves of the trees under a rainbow
Destiny obliges love into an eternal horizon
where it laments and bonds to the soul
like words in books

Emotions garner mournful music,
transmitting notes that gradually composed a love
Tears flourish to interpret the absence
and provide a pond of agony

Seeking answers surrounded by inscribed stones,
the reply is silence and pain
Snow, rain, and sunshine revolve
Silence dwells

Searching sleep to caress my love
To feel her pretty face against my hand
To hear her melodious voice inside my ears
To say I traveled light-years for her embrace
I rest my head over the cold stone and kiss her lips
Gazing at the sky on a Sunday afternoon
